ABOUT WVID
An Irrigation District
Wallowa Valley Improvement District #1 (referred to as WVID on this website) is an Irrigation District formed under the irrigation district laws of the state of Oregon. Just like a school district and cemetery district, WVID is a public entity and considered a municipal corporation. As a public entity, WVID is subject to Public Records and Public Meetings laws ORS 192, prescribing that the public is entitled to know how the business of the public body is conducted. Additionally, there are several other statutes that speak to Water Rights, Water Distribution, Hydroelectric projects, etc located in ORS Volume 13: Title 45 Water resources: irrigation, drainage, flood control, reclamation.
The WVID board of directors are public officials with special fiduciary duties to the patrons of the district and the interest of the district. All official actions of the directors are subject to applicable federal and state laws. District board members have no individual powers seperate from the powers of the board.
Regular Monthly Meetings
Meetings of the WVID are open to the public and are held the second Tuesday of every month at 11:30 am at the home of Secretary, Mayah Lowe
